‘Uhane Hemolele

New Hope Oahu

‘Uhane Hemolele means “holy spirit” in the Hawaiian language. Even though this song is in English and we can understand it, it is a reminder that the Holy Spirit does not have one culture or language. People all around the world worship God and ask for the Holy Spirit in their own language or tradition and the Holy Spirit responds.

Read John 14:26.

The Holy Spirit speaks through us through the things we see every day, the people that talk to us, or the thoughts we may have throughout the day. Sit back, take a couple of deep breaths, and listen to the lyrics of this song inviting the Holy Spirit to speak to you.

Rise Up (Lazarus)

CAIN

Read Romans 6:11

In the Bible Jesus brings Lazarus back to life after he has passed away (John 11:38-45).  This is such an encouraging story because it shows us that if God is able to help Lazarus rise up from the dead, He can support us and help us rise up from anything.

What do you need Jesus to help you overcome or rise up from? Make a list of these things, there is nothing too big or too small.

Read Galatians 2:20 and draw a big cross over your list of challenges. This is a great reminder that Jesus died on the cross so that we can rise up from anything.

Trust in You

Anthony Brown & group therAPy

Read Luke 19:37-40.

This passage, similar to this song, reminds us that we are made to worship. Jesus said if we are silent even the rocks will cry out. Did you know that you can worship no matter how you’re feeling? In fact, when we feel scared, sad, happy, nervous, or excited we should invite God into our lives through worship.

What is something you are good at? (drawing, singing, dancing, writing, sports, etc.) This week try to do what you are good at as a form of worship. Try doing what you are good at while listening to this song or while praying in your mind or simply dedicating it to God with thankfulness.

Working on Me

Orange Kids Music

Read Psalm 27:14.

Waiting for things is difficult and sometimes when we act just because we are tired of waiting, our actions can cause trouble. Patience means that we wait for what is best. It is not settling for a quick fix or the easy way out. Waiting for something that you want now is a way of trusting God and demonstrating our faith in God.

As we move our bodies and sing about God working on us and helping us to be patient, He is reminding us of that truth and we are accepting that truth. Try worshipping through song and dance this week using the video below to guide you.

Give a little kindness

Orange Kids Music

Read Ephesians 4:29

Sometimes we forget how important our words are and how much they can affect someone else. Here’s the thing, God puts us on Earth to point everyone to Him. When we use our words wisely, everyone around us has a better chance of feeling His love and knowing Him! We have a responsibility to show everyone the love of Jesus through our powerful words of kindness and love.

Remember that hateful or curse words are not the only evil or mean words. Mean words can include complaining, gossiping, or disrespect, and these kinds of words can all be destructive. When is it hardest for you to use kind words? What can you do this week to respond in a way that points people to God?

goD is for us

Amber Sky Records (ft. Mark Gibson & Clarissa Gibson)

Read Romans 6:11

Thanks to Jesus Christ’s death on the cross sin is powerless and it will not shake us! No matter what, God is for us and He will stick close to us when times get hard. When it feels like there is nothing you can do to fix a problem, God remains by your side as you go through it. He will be there at any time, day or night. He listens to you because He loves you. There is nothing you can do that will make Him turn His back on you because all sin is powerless with God.

Knowing that God is for us is wonderful isn’t it? When troubles come your way, you will not be alone. Even though He knows our troubles, God feels closer when we tell Him what we are experiencing. Write a letter or draw a picture to God describing your current problems and ask God to show you that he is near you and for you.

Who You Say I Am

Hillsong Worship

This song says “I am who You say I am”, because we are who God believes we are and no one else. Despite what others might say about us or even how we feel about ourselves, what God has to say about us is the most important and true description we have of ourselves. He knows us better than anyone because He made us!

Let’s look at some declarations scripture makes over you:

I am God’s workmanship, created in Christ unto good works (Ephesians 2:10)

I am an ambassador for Christ (2 Corinthians 5:20)

I am part of a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation (1 Peter 2:9)

I am greatly loved by God  (Romans 1:7; Ephesians 2:4; Colossians 3:12; Thessalonians 1:4)

You are chosen by a God who loves you so much. He is for you and never against you. Pick one of the declarations from above and write it down (or draw it out) and post it somewhere where you will see it every day this week. Listen to this song at the end of a bad day and remember that you are who God says you are!

Glorious Day

Passion, Kristian Stanfill

Read John 11:40-44

One of the lines in this song says “You called my name, and I ran out of that grave!”. Just like Jesus brought Lazarus back from the dead in John 11, He can do the same for you. We often hear words in songs and scripture talking about Jesus bringing us “out of the grave” our “out of the darkness”. When we hear this, it does not always mean that we physically die and Jesus brings us back or that we are stuck in a dark room. These kinds of words represent shame, embarrassment, pain or anything that is not life-giving.

Think about what you may be struggling with and say it out loud in a prayer asking Jesus to bring you out of that grave. As you listen to this song shout out the line “You called my name, and I ran out of that grave!” declaring that Jesus knows your name and your struggles and He will help you through them.

every praise

The Recording Collective (ft. Cristalbel Clack)

Read Isaiah 43:21

We were created to worship, yet God gives us the freedom to choose to worship Him. Worship simply means “to give worth to” or to “honor something”. We are always worshipping or praising something or someone whether we know it or not. This can be the stress of school, our video games, a celebrity or anything else that we are showing honor to or placing our worth upon. We can, however, recognize the worth of things in their beauty and goodness as long as they are point us to God.

This song declares that we give our praise and worship to God above all else. It also gives us some reasons to worship God including Him being a savior, healer, and deliverer. As you listen to this song, think about some reasons that make you want to praise God.

16UMGIM15993_T1_cvrart.jpg

good good father

Chris Tomlin

This song talks about there being thousands of stories about our good father. This is true because although God is only referred to as a father about 250 times in the Bible there are many, many other stories in which people have experienced the goodness of God in their lives.

Read 2 Corinthians 6:18

God has many qualities that make Him a good father to us. He protects us, teaches us, makes us feel better, and most importantly He loves us so much. He has also revealed himself as a father because He is not a God who just sits in heaven but he deeply cares for us as His children. As you listen to this song draw or write about some of the qualities that make God a good father to you.

HE Is AMAZING

Orange Kids Music

“For with God nothing will be impossible” (Luke 1:37 KJV)

Nothing is too big, too hard, or too much for God. If God ever fails that means that anything and everything is possible with God. Isn’t that amazing?

He can remove any obstacle, overcome any challenge, and we can trust in Him with anything. What makes this even better is that He makes everything work together for our good even the bad stuff. Deep inside we know this, but sometimes on a bad day it can be difficult to remember this.

Use the words and motions in this song to remind yourself how amazing our God is.

trust you with my heart

Orange Kids Music

“Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.” (Hebrews 13:8 NIV)

As scripture says, Jesus is the same from day to day, year to year, through all time. He is always loving, caring, and ready to keep His promises to you. That means that you can trust Him. Even when everything feels like it’s falling apart, you can trust Jesus.

This week find someone who knows Jesus (a parent, pastor, or friend) and ask, “How has Jesus shown you that He can be trusted?”

O Come All Ye Faithful (His Name Shall Be)

Passion, Melodie Malone

Read Luke 2:15

This song expresses the excitement that surrounds the birth of Christ as it asks us to “come to Bethlehem” and “behold” and “adore” Him. At Christmastime we remember, and often recreate, the events surrounding the birth of Jesus. The words in this song that say “Word of the Father now in flesh appearing” remind us that God sent His only son into our world. Jesus came to us in a human form that we could connect with, learn from, and relate to. He is “Emmanuel”, which means, “God with us”. This is what we celebrate each Christmas.

Draw your own nativity scene and write out the line “Oh come let us adore him, He is Christ the Lord” as a reminder and celebration of Jesus’s birth.

These Christmas Lights

Matt Redman

During Christmas time we see lights everywhere. People put lights on their Christmas trees, on their houses, in their rooms... Everywhere! We are naturally drawn to lights as humans because they make things look cool and they help us see and find our way around. Jesus described himself as “The Light of the World”. Sometimes our own lives and communities can feel pretty dark and messed up. That’s when it’s especially important for us to remember that one of the reasons Jesus came to earth was to shine His light on us and help us find our way.

Sit in a room with the lights out and light a candle or turn on a flashlight. Read and reflect on John 1:4-5, then listen to this song.

Jesus Is

Orange Kids Music

We celebrate Christmas with joy because it’s all about the arrival of God’s Son, Jesus, here on earth. On the night of Jesus’ birth, an angel told shepherds:

“Don’t be afraid. I’m here to announce a great and joyful event that is meant for everybody, worldwide: A Savior has just been born in David’s town, a Savior who is Messiah and Master. This is what you’re to look for: a baby wrapped in a blanket and lying in a manger.”

(Luke 2:10-12 The Message)

This good news is the best, most important, Christmas gift we’ll ever receive and it’s the only one that will last forever.

Remember the arrival of Jesus as you use this video to worship through movement and then share the good news with someone you know!

Joy to the World (Glory to the King)

Orange Kids Music

Read Luke 1:26-32

In this passage Gabriel tells Mary about something amazing that will happen to her. She is going to give birth to Jesus, the son of God. Mary faithfully accepts Gabriel’s message from God and she is blessed with the joy of being the chosen mother of Jesus. She waited for His birth and we wait for His return. The closer we get to Christmas, with all of the lights, decorations, and presents, the more excited and full of joy we may begin to feel. These things are wonderful and special, but they can't compare to the gift of Jesus and the promise of being with Him forever.

Joyfully celebrate Jesus’ gift as you worship through movement.

Be Thou My Vision

Ascend the Hill

Be Thou My Vision is an Irish hymn that was written by a man who became blind halfway through his life. He wrote the words to this song literally asking God to be his vision because when he became blind the only light in his life became God.

Read Psalm 119:105-106.

Similar to this scripture, the lyrics to this hymn serve as a prayer asking God to direct our lives and guide us as if we were seeing through God’s eyes. Listen to this song before you go to bed. Close your eyes pray that God will be your vision and guidance the next day.

Do It Again

Elevation Worship

Read 1 Chronicles 16:9-12

Throughout the Bible God reminds us over and over again how He has helped his people in the past, and He promises that He will continue to help them in the future. The chorus of this song reminds us of that promise God has made.

Your promise still stands, Great is your faithfulness, faithfulness

I’m still in your hands, This is my confidence, you’ve never failed

Sing along to this part of the song every time you hear it. Singing it over and over again will help us remember and believe this promise that God is faithful and He will never fail us.

This Is What We Live For

Big Daddy Weave

Jesus is the Light of the World. When we choose to follow Him, we get part of that light.

Read Matthew 5:14-16.

Lights come with an on and off switch. That is often how we view Christianity; we think we can turn it on and off as we please. When we are not choosing to be kind to others or when we don’t stick up for someone others are making fun of, it’s like we’ve turned that switch off. When we decide to help our parents with chores, or when we go to church, it’s like we’ve turned that switch on.

We should try to live lives that show the world our light ALL the time the way Jesus did. We let our lights shine to glorify God and bring hope and love to others. Listen to this song in the morning as you get ready for the day and think about how you’re going to choose to let your light shine throughout the day.

You Keep On Getting Better

The Worship Initiative, Shane & Shane, Majesty Rose

When God starts to seem boring or ordinary to us it is often because we stop exploring and discovering more of Him in His word, in His creation, and in our own lives.

Read James 1:17

Everything that is of the Lord is good. Sometimes we need to observe these things in order to see how God is blessing our lives and to learn more about Him. Make a list of things God has done in your life that have shown you how great He is, include things you have discovered about him.

Post this list somewhere where you can see it and be reminded that He keeps on getting better and better.

RAIN

Kings Kaleidescope

This song is written from God’s perspective. Listen to the lyrics and remember that He is always by your side and He is enough to satisfy your soul. Also remember that you are and will always be enough to bring Him joy.

Think about something that makes you feel like you are not enough for God.

Read Deuteronomy 31:8 two or three times.

Say a prayer to invite God into your life. He is happy to be by your side through it all especially when you invite Him in.

GREAT THINGS

Phil Wickham

Read Psalm 126:3

God was with David as he defeated the giant Goliath, He was with Jonah when he was inside of the whale, He was with Daniel when he was in the lion’s den, and He has done so many other great things. In the same way God goes before us and continues to do great things.

Reflect on the great things He has done in your life just this month. Celebrate these great things by praying, dancing, singing, writing (a letter, prayer, drawing), or however you feel like celebrating.

My Lighthouse

Rend Collective

Read John 8:12

A lighthouse is a tall tower normally located near a shore and it has a light at the top of the tower. It warns boats of any danger and it helps them navigate safely back to shore. God does the same in our lives. Because He is the light of the world, He is able to go before us and see things we do not see when we are in the sin and darkness of the world. He sees us when we are lost and when we look for and follow his light, he brings us safely back to shore.

Listen to this song. Every time you hear “my lighthouse” make a lighthouse by putting your hands together above your head. When you hear “safe to shore” put your hands together and make your arms move like waves.

HOLY SPIRIT

Francesca Battistelli

God is not like anyone else you know. He is not like your friends, family, or even the people you see at church. He is one God made up of three different persons called the Trinity. The Trinity includes God the Father, Jesus the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Jesus says the Holy Spirit is like the wind (John 3:8). We don’t see the wind but it is life to our lungs (Genesis 2:7), and it also helps create powerful storms, hurricanes, and tornadoes (Acts 1:8). In the same way, the Holy Spirit is God’s presence with us making us new and filling us with power. The Spirit opens your eyes to see how God is working in and through you, He opens your ears to hear when the Lord speaks to you, and He opens your heart to love others well.

Read John 14:16-17

As you brush your teeth tonight tell God about your day and invite the Holy Spirit into your life. As you rinse, your toothbrush share anything you want washed away from your life, anything you want forgiven or anything you want the Holy Spirit to help you with.

RAISE A HALLELUJAH

Bethel Music

The word “hallelujah” is a Hebrew phrase that means “we joyfully praise God in song”. This song reminds us to joyfully praise God in challenging trials that we experience in our lives. Worship, through music or any other form, is an important reminder that God is present in our current struggles and He has already won the ultimate battle.  Discuss some situations where you find it difficult to raise a hallelujah. Read Deuteronomy 20:4 and remember that God is worth praising because He fights for you in challenging situations.

HOW WE WORSHIP

New Hope Oahu

This song begins with the Lord’s prayer (Matthew 6:9-13) and ends with the doxology both in Hawaiian. Although we may not understand the language, we can still worship to this song knowing the spirit of God loves all sounds of worship not just those spoken in English. Read 1 John 4:14-16. With God there is no language barrier because He understands love, He hears love, and He is love.

Get comfortable and listen to this song. As you are listening, take in this beautiful language and think about how you worship God.

GOD LOVES ME SPECIFICALLY

Orange Kids Music

God came to earth to die on the cross so that all of our sins can be forgiven but He also loves you specifically. He knows everything about you, even the things you don’t want anyone to know about you. He knows who you are and who you are becoming as you are growing up. He knows everything and He still loves you. He especially likes knowing that you love Him too.

Read Psalm 139:1-6

Because He knows you and loves you, you don’t need to keep anything from Him because He will never leave your side. Be honest with God and write a letter or draw a picture describing what is going on in your life. Remember that God is your friend and wants you to talk to Him.

THE WAY (NEW HORIZON)

The Worship Initiative, Shane & Shane

Each day we are faced with difficult decisions and sometimes it is really hard to figure out what the right thing to do is. Sometimes we make decisions based on how we feel or based on what everyone else is doing. This song is a great reminder that Jesus is the way in every situation.

Read John 14:6.

We know that we want to go to heaven, and Jesus is the way. If we follow him, and try to make decisions like Him we’ll know we are headed in the right direction.

This week write “What Would Jesus Do” or “WWJD” somewhere where you will see it often and make your daily decisions considering what Jesus would do.

THE BLESSING

Kari Jobe, Cody Carnes

The Blessing is a song that is often sung at the end of our church services as a benediction. A benediction is a good word or blessing that we speak over others. The lyrics to the first part of this song are taken straight from Numbers 6:24-26. This benediction was first spoken when the Lord told Moses to have Aaron and his sons bless the children of Israel with this declaration of security, grace, and peace.

This week, take some time to speak or sing these words of blessing over someone in your life.

COME THOU FOUNT

Kings (MHM)

This song forms a beautiful prayer acknowledging our Lord Jesus Christ as a fountain of blessings. Read John 7:37-39. Just as we are blessed it is our responsibility to bless others so that the fountain continues and doesn’t stop with us. Think of two ways in which you will bless someone in your life this week. This can be helping with an extra chore, complimenting someone, trying to be nicer to someone, or reading/playing with a younger sibling.

I’M TRUSTING YOU

GroupMusic

Read Proverbs 3:5-6.

God will lead us through things in our lives that will make us uncomfortable and things that we will not understand. In all situations, it is important that we allow Him to work in our lives and trust that His plan will ultimately result in our well-being. Remember that God loves us and He is good. Even when things in our world do not seem good, He still loves us and will always be with us.

Enjoy worshipping with this week’s worship dance video. As you move and sing remember to keep trusting God in all things.

YOUR GREAT NAME

Todd Dulaney

Read Matthew 8:1-4.

The name of Jesus is powerful! That doesn’t mean that it's a magic word that we can just use to get what we want. However, scripture says that, as believers of Jesus, when we call on Him and invite Him into our situations, He will respond. The Bible has so many stories, including this one, about Jesus baptizing, forgiving, teaching, and healing people who came to Him for help.

We as Jesus followers also represent the name of Jesus. When we try to live more like Him, we help bring hope to those that may be alone, scared, weak, hungry, or suffering in other ways.

Prayer is a form of worship. It is a conversation you have with God. A prayer can be written down, spoken out loud, or thought of in your mind.

YOu KEEP HOPE ALIVE

Mandisa and John Reddick

Read Micah 7:7-8

This song says “Days may be darkest but Your light is greater” because God is always greater and more powerful than our challenges.

On a piece of paper write a letter to God describing some things that may feel frustrating or difficult in this season. On the back side of that piece of paper draw a cross to symbolize God’s hand over these things. Close by listening to this song and singing the chorus as you remember that God is our hope.

FREEDOM (In EVERY SEASON)

Unite Collective

Read Romans 6:22

Being a slave to sin means that sometimes we know the right thing but we struggle to actually do it. We are stuck in our sinfulness, but Jesus died on the cross to set us free forever. This freedom doesn’t mean we get to just do whatever we want. It means that we now have God and the Holy Spirit guiding us and helping us to do what is right and good. It also means that when we do mess up, we can admit it to God and receive His grace and forgiveness.

This freedom is worth celebrating every day of our lives. Take a moment this week to celebrate your freedom from sin by praying, dancing, singing, writing (a letter, a prayer, a drawing) or however you feel like celebrating.

DOXOLOGY

Anthem Lights (feat. Selah)

Read Psalm 106:48

The words of this song have been the most frequently sung words of any song for over 300 years! The word doxology is a Greek word that means “saying glory” and this song is a prayer that reminds us to give glory to God.

Get comfortable, but listen to the words being sung and worship God through that. Remain still as you think about what this song is saying. If you don’t understand a line or what a word means, look it up or ask someone.

For Your Glory

Elevation Church Kids

God has given each of us a body and the ability to move. One of the ways in which we can worship is through dancing. Read Acts 17:28 together and enjoy worshipping through movement as you Zumba with Gabe!

Relentless

Hillsong UNITED

Read Romans 8:38-39.

Relentless is a BIG word that means unstoppable! This song says “your love is relentless” over and over to remind us that God’s love never ends and nothing can stop us from receiving it.

Listen to this song. Every time you hear “Your love is relentless!”, make a heart with your hand for “your love” and do a fist pump for “relentless”.
