ELOHYMNS | No. 4

Music is often a big part of how we express our gratitude, adoration and praise to God. Elohymns is designed to help parents connect with their kids in a fun way to establish regular rhythms of praise and worship at home. We recognize that everyone connects with God in different ways. The devotions and playlist below are intended to help you and your kids explore diverse ways to worship God together.

RAISE A HALLELUJAH

Bethel Music

The word “hallelujah” is a Hebrew phrase that means “we joyfully praise God in song”. This song reminds us to joyfully praise God in challenging trials that we experience in our lives. Worship, through music or any other form, is an important reminder that God is present in our current struggles and He has already won the ultimate battle.  Discuss some situations where you find it difficult to raise a hallelujah. Read Deuteronomy 20:4 and remember that God is worth praising because He fights for you in challenging situations.

HOW WE WORSHIP

New Hope Oahu

This song begins with the Lord’s prayer (Matthew 6:9-13) and ends with the doxology both in Hawaiian. Although we may not understand the language, we can still worship to this song knowing the spirit of God loves all sounds of worship not just those spoken in English. Read 1 John 4:14-16. With God there is no language barrier because He understands love, He hears love, and He is love.

Get comfortable and listen to this song. As you are listening, take in this beautiful language and think about how you worship God.

GOD LOVES ME SPECIFICALLY

Orange Kids Music

God came to earth to die on the cross so that all of our sins can be forgiven but He also loves you specifically. He knows everything about you, even the things you don’t want anyone to know about you. He knows who you are and who you are becoming as you are growing up. He knows everything and He still loves you. He especially likes knowing that you love Him too.

Read Psalm 139:1-6

Because He knows you and loves you, you don’t need to keep anything from Him because He will never leave your side. Be honest with God and write a letter or draw a picture describing what is going on in your life. Remember that God is your friend and wants you to talk to Him.

THE WAY (NEW HORIZON)

The Worship Initiative, Shane & Shane

Each day we are faced with difficult decisions and sometimes it is really hard to figure out what the right thing to do is. Sometimes we make decisions based on how we feel or based on what everyone else is doing. This song is a great reminder that Jesus is the way in every situation.

Read John 14:6.

We know that we want to go to heaven, and Jesus is the way. If we follow him, and try to make decisions like Him we’ll know we are headed in the right direction.

This week write “What Would Jesus Do” or “WWJD” somewhere where you will see it often and make your daily decisions considering what Jesus would do.
